I have searched for an ans. to this issue, but can find no reference to it in the Neowiki postings nor the Trinity forums:
I'm running an iMac Core 2 Duo. When I download patch 7 for 2.1, I receive a file with a name like "2nz2xv84.exe" which is interpreted by OS X to be an MPEG file. It appears on my screen with a Quicktime icon.
When I attempt to execute, the file fails to open and reports the following err. msg.: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file."
I have had no trouble with previous patches. Can anyone explain what is going on? E.g., why am I receiving an .exe file instead of a .dmg?

Thanks, trashtalk26

Interesting. The file should served as "NeoOffice-2.1-Patch-7-PowerPC.dmg" (or Intel), so something is getting in the way. You haven't indicated which OS revision or browser you're running; please indicate this. I have just tried to download the patch, and can't find the same error running 10.4.10 using either Safari or Firefox to download both PPC and Intel patches through:

http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/patch.php

A few fix ideas:

- try using another browser as a quick fix

- if you're connecting to the net through a proxy server, try to connect directly if possible

-have you installed any browser extensions or add-ons (especialy downloading utilities) since you last downloaded a patch? If so, try disabling them.

You might try using cURL to download the patch if your browser continues to screw up (if your browser is screwing up, it'll make a lot of other sites unpleasant too...)

You can also try renaming the downloaded "2nz2xv84.exe" file to "NeoOffice-2.1-Patch-7-PowerPC.dmg" and see if it will open.

If that doesn't work, try using iking's suggestions.

That sounds like a temporary file name from Firefox, and either the download failed to download completely, or when it finished, Firefox failed to give the file the correct name.

Regardless, Patrick's and iking's suggestions are the way to go.
