One of the most requested features for NeoOffice has been horizontal scrollwheel support but, due to some technical limitations, we were unable to add that feature. Recently we were able to find solutions to those technical limitations and we are pleased to announce that NeoOffice now supports horizontal movement in scrollwheels, trackballs, and trackpads. We have included this new scrollwheel support in NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 2.

When we released Patch 2 last month, we made several new Mac OS X features available to our users for testing. Now that our volunteer testers have found the new features to be stable, we have released NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 3 with the following new features:

- Native floating tool windows
- Magnify and swipe trackpad gestures
- Horizontal scrollwheel support

We released Patch 4 a week ago to fix some envelope printing issues and some very uncommon text layout issues. Unfortunately, while Patch 4 did fix the reported issues and did not cause any problems for our volunteer testers, some users reported new uncommon printing and text issues which we have fixed and released Patch 5.
Unfortunately, there appears to be one issue that was not reported until after Ed and I left for the NeoOffice event in Milan, Italy. Since this is a new issue that we have not been able to reproduce and we have limited development capabilities while we are in Milan, a fix will have to be included in a future patch sometime after we get back from Milan. The issue, which appears to be related to the use of certain custom or duplicate fonts is described in the following bug. If you encounter the same problem after installing Patch 5, please add yourself to the bug's CC: field and attach any sample documents in the bug and post answers to any of the questions that have been asked on the original bug filer:

When we released Patch 5 nearly two weeks ago, we did not yet have a fix for the following very uncommon text layout issue. This issue caused text to appear garbled or miskerned when a PostScript font was used:
We finally found a fix for this bug a few days ago and so we have released Patch 6 with the fix.
Unfortunately, there appears to still be one unsolved issue that we have not yet found a fix for. This issue, which causes Japanese text in dialogs, buttons, and other controls to be miskerned for some users, is still being investigated. If you are experiencing miskerned Japanese text, please try installing the latest test patch listed at the end of the following bug:

A few days ago, we released Patch 4 with slideshow speed improvements. Unfortunately, when we make big changes to NeoOffice like we did in Patch 4, it is not surprising for users to find a few bugs that our volunteer testers missed.
What we found was that while slideshows ran faster, certain complex slideshows required more memory to run than before. For these slideshows, the increased memory usage caused drawing errors so over the last few days we have developed a fix that eliminates the increased memory usage while keeping our slideshow speed improvements and we have released this fix in NeoOffice 2.2.4 Patch 4.

Since we released NeoOffice 2.2.5 nearly two weeks ago, we have been busily fixing any significant bugs reported by users. So we have released NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 1.
This patch also fixes a bug reported by a few users running Mac OS X 10.5.5 and who installed last week's Java system update from Apple. For Mac OS X 10.5.5 machines with very high resolution monitors, installing Apple's Java system update caused all versions of NeoOffice to display text at nearly 10 times the normal size.
