|
Hi,
I have a column of a Calc spreadsheet which is all hyperlinks. I want to format it so that I can click on a cell and be taken to the target of the hyperlink.
Could anyone help me with how to do this?
Thanks,
Andy |

There is an article about inserting hyperlinks in Neowiki
I hope that answers your question. If not, feel free to post here again.

Jacqueline,
I'm afraid that doesn't quite answer my question. My problem is that I already have the hyperlink in a cell (i.e. the cell's contents are "http://www.google.com") and I want to make it clickable.
More specifically, I want to be able to select a column of cells which are all hyperlinks and make them all clickable. The document you indicate is more about how to do this one cell at a time.
Merci,
Andy |

When I enter an URL like http://www.google.com in a spreadsheet cell, it's automatically clickable if the
Tools > Autocorrect… > Options > URL Recognition is checked. It's the default option.
I don't understand why that doesn't work for you.
If all your cells are not clickable, a workaround could be to reenter those URL in another column, then cut/paste the new column into the previous one. In the warning window, click Yes.
Sorry, I can't find a better way

Jacqueline,
Thanks again for your help. I think we are getting closer to the central issue.
When you type http://www.google.com into a spreadsheet cell, Calc correctly autocorrects the URL to be a link as you say.
However if you cut and paste the URL into the document (from a cell where it hadn't previously been recognized as a URL) or you import the URL (I have large column of URL's which I had imported), the autocorrect doesn't get triggered. I can't find an automated way of converting a column of URL's other than editing every url by hand (i.e. if you enter a space at the end of a URL, autocorrect gets triggered). I'm trying to figure out how to trigger this autocorrect automatically.
Merci beaucoup,
Andy |

Somebody can probably write a macro to do this, I'd guess. Unfortunately, I can't figure a way to do the conversion normally in Calc; in Writer there's a style that can be applied and it does it, iirc, but the Hyperlink style does not exist in Calc

I tried to use Find & Replace with Regular Expressions and the CONCATENATE function to add a space at the end of the URLs, but the links remain "not clickable".
Maybe you can try this way:
Suppose A1 to A4 are URLs.
Click in a cell in an empty column, i.e. B1.
Click on the Function Wizard icon. In the Category drop-down choose Spreadsheet.
Select HYPERLINK.
Click Next
- in URL field, enter A1 (or click in A1)
- in cell Text field, enter A1 (or click in A1)
Click OK
Then fill the range B1 to B4 by dragging the cursor as described in
this page in Neowiki.
All the URL in column B are clickable. The font color is black. You can change it by choosing Format > Cells… > Font Effects > Font color
Don't delete cells A1 to A4, but hide the column A.
Unfortunately, I'm not a "macro expert" . I tried to record a macro, but I didn't succeed to get all the URL to be clickable.
