|
Hi there,
I am using NeoOffice 2.2.1 Patch 1, OSX 10.4.10. I have searched through the Forum entries and the OO manual and found nothing that seems to address my specific problem. If I missed something and this has already been covered in a previous post, please point me to it, thanks!
I am trying to use the contents of a cell in a Calc spreadsheet as an element in a sentence in a Writer document. I can embed larger tables easily by copying and pasting or drag-and-dropping. I then wind up with something looking like a little spreadsheet inside the Writer document.
But what I want is to have the contents of a single Calc cell to appear in the middle of a sentence and to look like it's part of the sentence -- be aligned vertically with the rest of the text in the sentence, have the same font, and have the width of the "cell" in the sentence expand or contract based on the contents of the cell in the spreadsheet. I would also like the contents of the cell in the sentence to update when the spreadsheet is updated (both documents being open at the same time).
I have tried various methods of embedding the cell in the sentence. Only copy and paste as a "DDE Link" seems to let the cell in the Writer document update automatically, but this seems to offer fewer formatting options. Even just regular copying and pasting, I can get the cell to be embedded in the sentence ("anchor" as character) but it does not easily align vertically with the other text in the sentence and the cell's width does not automatically change to match its contents. I have tried every combination of formatting options for the cell that I can think of but can't seem to get it right.
Any suggestions you might have on an approach to this type of integration would be most appreciated. Thanks to anyone with ideas! |
