This laptop looks so nice! I never realized how customized it would be; to me, it seemed like it would be a slow laptop running a regular Linux distro. Instead, they came up with something that seems very fun and easy to use! My only concern is how and/or when its software will be translated.
Too bad this G1G1 program only ships to U.S. and Canada addresses
Anyway, kudos to OLPC |

It does seem pretty neat.
The program runs between November 12 and November 26 so don't wait if this is something you're interested in. |

I haven't checked out the final version. Did the hand crank make the final cut?
For trivia Dan Williams, the first person to work with me on ooo X11 and neo/c was one of the engineers who worked on the olpc project. Bravo!

seriously?? go dan!
and yes, the crank is there. tho it is a 'yo-yo string' instead of the handle thing it was on the prototype. |

so far it pretty sweet. the keyboard is small, which makes typing harder for mybig hands, but ill get used to it.
oh and obviously ill need neo for this too...=)
(pull string charger is not built in, btw, it is an accesory like the solar panel) |

Very cool. Glad to hear it's made a good first impression One of my friends got one for his kids so the perspective is helpful. He's hoping that his 2 yr. old won't be able to destroy it
