I notice that www.openoffice.org is down right now. Meanwhile, though, there are still regularly updated X11 builds happening and available over at ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/ - at least for intel machines - alongside their aqua snapshots.

I got curious because of wanting to test image captions in newer versions, and not wanting to have to install OOo in Parallels, thank you very much...

I'm just mentioning this because someone posted recently that there weren't any current X11 builds. Or maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick. Whatever (as they say).

*edit* the openoffice site is back up again; meanwhile, I've been playing around with OOo 2.4 aqua and the image caption bug is still there.

Yeah collabnet does some goofy things from time to time...if they're updating the version of collabnet (read the web services code) then it can go down. Is there an OOo IZ reference for the image caption feature? While we're still at OOo 2.2 internally there's a chance we may be able to backport some fixes.

Well, it's kind of 9821 and 40957 - the problem is basically that the designers implemented captions as separate entities from the objects they're captioning (tables, or frames containing text, image, formula) so moving/resizing these objects basically entails redoing their captions. As you can see in the issues, it's been suggested that captions get implemented as an object property so it can belong to that object and move around with it. No clue as to whether that's going to happen any time soon.
