I just installed OOo along with OroborOSX and XDarwin, and the installation went fine, but I can't get Start OpenOffice to work. I get a "Can't start OpenOffice" error message which occasionally (though not always) has a "Details" button which says that it can't open the display. DISPLAY is set to ":0.0" on both OroborOSX and XDarwin. I have no idea how to adjust the permissions for the display, and neither of the suggested `man X` and `man xhost` exists. How can I fix this?

Start OpenOffice... 1.0b8
OOo... 1.0.3
OroborOSX... 0.8b2
XDarwin... 1.2.0
dlcompat... 20010505
ghostscript... 8 (from TeXShop, I didn't install 7.05 for fears of breakage)
OSX... 10.2.8
Darwin... 6.8

While "Start OpenOffice.org" v1.0b8 should have just worked fine with the combination of pieces you have, I suggest you upgrade some if not most of those pieces. OroborOSX v0.8b2, XDarwin v1.2.0 are quite old now.

I suggest upgrading at least "Start OpenOffice.org" to the current version v1.0b9, as it does a much better job of handling the DISPLAY setting than previous versions of "Start OpenOffice.org".

Thanks, I wasn't sure how interchangeable the different parts were. Do you know where I might go about geting newer versions of OroborOSX and XDarwin? They all just came together with the ooo103darwingm.dmg.gz installer.

I suggest reading the "Start OpenOffice.org" v1.0b9 documentation - it has the links. Otherwise, use a search engine...

Thanks. I installed a new version of OroborOSX and StartOOo and it all seemed to work out right. :)
