I ran across a reference to the JODConverter project. It is an open source Java based app that auotomates the conversion process between OpenDocument and MSOffice formats. It can also convert presentation files into swf (flash) files.

Unfortunately, my grasp of programing/application development is too feeble to tell from the web page if it would work on the Mac or in Neo.

I don't need it myself, but I thought it might be a good resource to add to the wiki if it would work.

I have added the related online converter link to the main Impress page because of the flash conversion option.

Impress can already do that. Just use File > Export… Wink

Actually, NeoOffice can already do anything this JODConverter can do. It is based on OpenOffice.org Very Happy

Ah....I must have misunderstood a thread in the OOo community forums, then. I thought it indicated that OOo can't do the flash conversion, and this was an alternative.

That's what I get for stretching the limits of my competence! (I've barely used Impress, and only to view presentations created by others).

Or whoever posted in that thread didn't know either. IIRC, this feature was only introduced in OOo 2.x, and I'm not sure which one…

This is the thread, and it looks like I misread it. It does mention Flash export, but specifies that video, animation, and sounds won't export to Flash. I don't know if the JODConverter will handle those elements or not.

I'll remove the addition on the NeoImpress page.

My guess is that it has the same limitations as Impress (being based on OpenOffice.org), unless they modified it…
