Is that Karelia's iMedia, ed? In the meantime, we who wish to tease ourselves could put it in our menu bar for quick implementation Smile

iMedia does allow [by placing them in the "Pictures" folder], access to galleries of clipart in a way that's a bit more intuitive than using Neo's gallery import feature. However, at the moment, it does not appear possible to drag and drop those images from the media browser into Neo docs. I can drag and drop from the browser into some other programs eg TextEdit, Bean.

It's derived from that project, but it's already in the process of being customized for Neo to actually interact correctly with runtime and data exchange issues...and removing crashes.

Most of the time, I use iMedia Browser which is free, but it doesn't work with NeoOffice. When dragging a picture over NeoOffice, it will paste the name of the picture instead of the picture ...

Yup, and that should look familiar Wink We're working off of that as a base framework but are adapting it for use within Neo.

Just an update that now image and link dragging are functional:

Next up is the more difficult tasks of handling audio and video insertion.

talk about value-adding Wink You are a marvel. How you and Patrick do what you do is a mystery to me, but a wonderful, terrific mystery.

Just another progress update...

Insertion of audio and movies is now complete with some great work by Patrick. Additionally, images and audio from within the gallery is now integrated with the browser. This should provide access to any clip art or audio added to the gallery and allows it to be dragged into the document like any other content from the browser:

One side effect of our work on this feature is that we have enabled dragging of files from the Finder or the desktop directly into a NeoOffice document. This enables some convenient features like populating a Calc document by dragging a .csv file directly into the document, for example.

And now with a little toolbar icon for quick access to open it:

You won't have to wait until NeoOffice 3.0 for this feature. We have not even started work on upgrading to the OOo 3.0 code yet so all of this feature's development is occurring within the NeoOffice 2.2.3 codebase.

Now that we figured out how to drag video and sound, it really should only take a few more small tweaks to put it into a test patch that people can use. So, our plan is to release NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 2 next week with a few more PDF export and menu bug fixes. At the same time, we will post a test patch that has this new feature in it so that within a few weeks or so of testing and fixing any bugs found, we can release this new feature in NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 3 in early May.

Wow wee you guys are going well with this and it will be a rather nice addition to neo office.

I have been watching this thread and am waiting patiently for the test patch to help do some testing as I will have a little more time next month to do it.

Also note that with Patrick's latest round of enhancements people using Karelia's standalone iMedia package should also be able to use that directly with Neo. The primary differences between it and the embedded one are how drags are handled from the "Links" pane (the embedded version in Neo pastes the text of the link destination), the Photos pane (the embedded version has slightly better quality as it does TIFF conversion rather than BMP conversion), and the embedded version has the inclusion of the Neo Gallery (generally useless, IMHO, unless one has added clipart packs or the oxygen office stuff).
