Hi,

I have the newest update for NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 1.

Since updating there is an annoying formatting. I have been working with a file on the previous edition. Now the same procedure (i.e. dash followed by test then enter, - text 'ENTER') produces bullet points that are offset on the first and second line. However I move the ruler I cannot seem to fix it.

See the photos below. The top bullets are from the new version, the ones below were made on the former NeoOffice 2.

Thanks for the help.

Anyway, those pictures aren't showing up for me. But basically the lines are still offset when the points on the rulers are lined up.

Can you please attach a sample document here using the instructions in this forum post? Include steps on how to recreate the problem you are seeing.

This will allow NeoOffice volunteers to open the document in both NeoOffice 3.0 and NeoOffice 2.2.5 and try and replicate the issue you reported.

Okay sure.

I cut everything out for privacy purposes but the document still behave the same (I think this can be reproduced without my document).

Also, I appreciate the irony of posting my intellectual property class notes in the NeoOffice forum.

I'm thinking this might be an issue with the new build of OpenOffice generally. Thank you for the help.

Yes, that is the case. Unfortunately OpenOffice.org 3.0.1, which NeoOffice 3.0 is based on, changed the default indent for bullets.

As you found, bullets indents cannot be changed with the ruler. I found that they can only be changed through the Format menu.

Here are steps I used to change the bullet indenting in NeoOffice 3.0:

- Highlight the bullets you would like to change
- Select the menu Format :: Bullets and Numbering
- Click on the Position tab
- Change Aligned at to 0.00
- Click the OK button

Does that change the bullets to be aligned to the left hand margin for you?

I think they set it up this way at OOo to mirror MS Word. And it is awful.

Best wishes,
Oscar

You can create a new document template that has this already set, to save you having to do it every time.
