How do I get access to my autocorrect file from the previous version? I have lots of abbreviations I use which are automatically expanded when typing. I tried to copy the data files into the autocorrect folder but it says that this cannot be changed.

Again, conversion of settings is more complicated then just copying files...usually...so warning that the following may not work:

In 1.0.3 your autocorrect file is most likely stored in /Applications/OpenOffice.org1.0.3/user. You seem to already know where it is Smile Try copying it into the corresponding location in the ~/Library/Preferences/OpenOffice.org1.1.2 folder.

You can't replace the whole 1.1.2 folder with the old 1.0.3 folder as the software will not run with 1.0.3 user folders. If it's a single file though (I don't even know where it's stored) then you may have more luck.

Let me know what you come up with!

Thanks. I now have it working. The way I did it is to copy (holding down the apple key) all theh acorXXXX.dat files from the user folder in 1.0.3 to the share folder in 1.1.2. When I started up, it worked! Previously, I had tried to drag the file as normal on the mac but it would not allow this. Using the apple key to drag did the trick.

The trick is that the share folder is read only by all users except for root by default in the 1.1.2 install. The only exception is the share/fonts/truetype directory, which was made public writeable as it's the most frequently modified.

I'm glad you found the hint though and will work on adding it to the online readme...perhaps we should create an upgrading FAQ?

With the filename bit of info, I did a search and it seems that these acorXXXX.dat files exist in the same place (~/Library/Preferences/<OOo1.x.x>/user/autocorr) in both versions, so probably that subfolder can be copied over (and therefore more easily preserved when "upgrading" than one in the /Applications/<OOo1.1.x>/share/autocorr folder).

Maybe everything in the user folder can be copied except the config folder. These seem to be the "settings" i.e. "preferences" i.e. Tools > Options stuff, and they seem to be in a completely different format and folder structure (this is what I meant earlier when I said "settings from 1.0.3 can't be used")
