I changed to Apple Mac Mini - OS 10.3.9 - 1 gb ram - 40 gb harddrive. Spreadsheet worked fine when first installed. Now spacebar key doesn't insert spaces. Help.

This is usually a problem with 10.3.8 and earlier. Are you sure that you have installed all of the Apple system updates for your 10.3.9 machine?

This particular issue also appeared recently either when someone hadn't applied all of the Mac OS X Java or security updates, or hadn't applied all of the NeoOffice patches.

Our wiki explains how to do both of these things.

In particular, follow the steps in this part of the above article to verify that you have the latest Apple Java updates.

For some reason, some 10.3.x users don't always have the latest Java updates installed even though they think they have installed all updates. So, if the output from these verification steps indicate that you do not have the latest Apple Java update, you can manually install Apple's latest Java update by downloading the following URL, double-clicking on the downloaded .dmg file, and double-clicking on the .pkg file after you open the .dmg file:
