Patrick and I are doing the final cleanup for the media browser feature, and I wanted to see if we might be able to get any translations for the phrase "Show Media Browser". The context of this is a menu item as well as the title of a toolbar button. Thanks in advance!

Code:
Afficher le navigateur multimédia

Navigateur multimédia is the official Apple translation of Media Browser in the following Apple support document:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302995-en

You could replace 'Show' with 'Toon' or 'Ga naar' (the latter literally means go to), but I have no idea how to translate 'Media Browser'..

Any other Dutch speakers with suggestions?

Best wishes,
Oscar

I don't suppose the Media Browser shows up in Apple's translation glossaries?

Edit: Aha!

If you've got an OS with the iLife Media Browser, open the Localizable.strings file for your language and pull out Apple's string and chop off the iLife part and replace it with the verb "Show" Wink

E.g., for Dutch, Apple's string is:

"iLife Media Browser" ="iLife-mediakiezer";

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iLifeMediaBrowser.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Dutch.lproj/Localizable.strings

Smokey

Edit: bold the "chop off the iLife part"

Smokey and tahtahtah,

iLife is Apple's term and we cannot use that. Instead, we need to translation "Show Media Browser".

How should your translations change by replacing "iLife" (an adjective) with "Show" (a verb)?

I added some bolding to where I said "chop off the iLife part" in my post Smile I provided Apple's Dutch string just so Oscar could see what he needed to fix. Wink

Thanks! This rules Smile We'll be able to get all of these in for the first patch release with the media browser.

FWIW, the karelia browser itself only has translations for the following locales: da, de, en, fr, it, ja, sv, zh_CN, zh_TW. That covers our most popular language packs, but if anyone else is interested in helping translate into a new language I'd be more than happy to get them back into the karelia project.

Based on the localization file found by Smokey, my original translation seems OK Smile

Edit: What's a link? Hopefully I'm not the weakest link…

Well, that all depends on the size of the project. I don't mind doing a few menu items, window titles and such, but if there's entire help files to go through, that is a bit much.

Best wishes,
Oscar

No there shouldn't be any help files, and the license is just BSD so doesn't need translation. It's probably less than 40 strings. I'll see if I can track them down and extract them this afternoon.

OK, here's the lproj below. In additio nthere ar ethe following from nib files. In the English context you can see them by clicking the "info" button in the palette toolbar:

Code:

Photo Grids:

And there's an additional one of our own:

Code:

NeoOffice Gallery

Here's the strings file from the lproj. I don't think all of these strings are used:

Any translations of the above for languages not already supported by Karelia I'll submit back into that project. Right now the source code contributions aren't really useful since they're more specific to how Neo is constructed, but I'm certain they will love new translations Smile

Thanks again, everyone.

To translate the above, just submit another set of the text in the "code" section. Left of '=' is English, right of '=' is the translation.

Check above for the translations that already exist, but I can double check them as well. Hopefully we'll have the browser in a test patch soon for folks to test.
