|
Hello,
i want to write a book and so I thought about writing it using NeoOffice to create a DocBook XML File.
Everything worked finde so far but opening the document the next day all my formats are gone.
I created the document applying Styles from the "Styles and Format" window and formatting them using right-click -> modify.
Checking the XML-Source I could verify that everything seems ok:
Code: |
<article lang="en">
<sect1>
<title>Introduction</title>
</sect1>
<sect1>
<title>Headline 1</title>
<sect2><title>Sub-Headline 1</title>
<para>
some text
</para>
</sect1>
</article>
|
But opening the file with NeoOffice again after closing everything was unformatted... no headlines etc.
So what is the right way to create a DocBook File using NeoOffice? Which styles/formats can I use and how can I safe the formattings that should be applied? |

A number of the export formats don't retain the additional styles and information that's saved in Office or OpenDocument files. If you need a DocBook file, I'd recommend saving the file primarily in OpenDocument and then doing a "Save As" to export to DocBook when you need to hand it off to other authors/production.

thanx for your fast reply.
I wanted to create it straight away as DocBook File to make sure that I use only formats supported by the filetype. But it seems like I will have to do it the way you proposed.
By the way: If anybody knows a good freeware wysiwyg DocBook editor for MacOS, please tell me |
