i was reading this article this morning:
http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/08/01/15-desktop-blogging-tools-reviewed/

and i got an idea. a 'post this to my blog' feature in Neo. basically this is what I'd see it doing at first:

hit the 'post it' button.
screen comes up with additional fields such as tags
you post, neo saves your document
the peasants rejoice

at first it would probably be easier to link to wordpress and possibly blogger, but others could follow as well.

not sure if this is a 'mac' feature or just a plugin, but either way, i think at least, it would be a good show off type of thing.

besides, if it was just a plugin, then those linux guys would get some patrick/ed love.

anyway, mostly just a thought.

This already exists:

http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/swp

Granted, it requires OOo 2.4 or higher so you would have to wait for NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access or use OpenOffice.org 3.0 Beta to use it now.

The page actually says 2.0.4, so while the latest version requires 2.4, you may be able to get an older version that works for Neo now.

However, what the extension listing does not say is that it will cost you $9.95…

The $9.95 cost is actually a good indicator to me that this would be a very bad investment risk for Ed and I. After all, we recoup our investment by getting donations from new features. If there is already that same feature available today at roughly the average donation size, we would be competing against an established product and must unseat them to recoup our cost.
