No offense, but isn't (almost) everything on our wiki in that category?

Good point. I think this is a leftover of when Jake setup the NeoWiki and put equal billing for OOo X11 on the NeoWiki front page.

Since OOo X11 (and RetroOffice) are essentially dead, maybe it is time to remove the obsolete content off of the NeoWiki?

All the pages that aren't NeoLight, NeoOffice/C, RetroOffice, or OOo/X11-specific, yes.

However, rather than go through and remove these on every page, we should leave them...who knows, one day Patrick and Ed might make a NuoOffice, too.

I'm opposed to completely removing content

1) for historical reasons; we shouldn't try to pretend to rewrite history
2) because we didn't delete NeoOffice/C pages when it was abandoned
3) because there aren't that many pages (RetroOffice has 2 pages devoted to it plus its Main Page box; OOo has more, but not lots)

On the other hand, I'm very much in favor of removing those items from the front page and marking their pages as obsolete (with a new, more noticeable header, rather than just a little rewrite as we did to the sparse Neo/C pages).

That is fine by me. However you think is the best way. My only issue was that much of the front NeoWiki page is filled with products are basically obsolete and that may be a distraction for users who are using the NeoWiki for what it is currently most used for: finding NeoOffice help.

I've hidden the X11 part of the page (assuming everyone is happy, we can delete that part of the page entirely in the future) and added a note to the "More Information" section that links to the RetroOffice page but warns that it will be discontinued.

If there won't be a RetroOffice 2.2.5, we can go ahead and mark RetroOffice pages obsolete; otherwise, we should wait to mark them obsolete.

Thanks for updating the page Smokey. The NeoWiki main page looks a lot easier to read after your changes. Very Happy

I would say to link to the old OOo X11 stuff from the OpenOffice, and do the same for the RetroOffice stuff. Why kill stuff if it can retire peacefully? The only thing we should make sure of is that people looking ofr Neo help do not stumble onto these pages.

Though in both cases, it is not that much material, and the OOo stuff should be clearly marked as applying to OOo 2, and possible not OOo 3..
