For those that compare NeoOffice to iWork, would it be possible to have the spreadsheet open and save more like Numbers? That is, a canvas upon which you can have multiple spreadsheets, graphics, or text boxes/frames?

The closest way to do that is to use OLE objects (for the spreadsheet part) and graphics frames for the other elements.

In my experience, using OLE spreadsheets in a Writer document is possible, but often awkward and slow.

Anything "better" would have to be an improvement in the underlying OpenOffice.org code and beyond the scope of the NeoOffice project.
