I have a workaround: Make two slides. One with the placeholder and the next with the actual video. Then just switch to the scond slide when you are ready to play it...

Best wishes,
Oscar

Oscar's workaround is a good alternative.

I see the same behavior, video auto-starting in Impress, in both OpenOffice.org version 2.2.1 (which NeoOffice 2.2.5 is based on) and 3.0 (their latest version.) I did not find a way to prevent the auto-start from happening.

Unfortunately, our limited developer resources and funding limits the current scope of the NeoOffice project to keeping a native version of OpenOffice.org running on Mac OS X making significant changes to OpenOffice.org features is outside that scope.

You can file a feature request in the OpenOffice.org issue tracker to get it on the radar of the core OpenOffice.org developers and if they add this feature, the new behavior will get included in a future release of NeoOffice:

http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html

Note : our advice is to not mention NeoOffice as mentioning NeoOffice may cause OOo volunteers to accidently close it without actually reviewing your feature request.

Please let us know if you have any questions,
