When I turn on View non-printing characters, the paragraph markings show, but the spaces do not show. Is there something I am missing? (Also a problem with OO.org 3.0) |

What version of NeoOffice are you using? Also, what font are you using?
With NeoOffice 2.2.5 patch 4 I see little dots between the words. My OS is 10.4.11.

I've tried this in Neo v2.2.5 and v3 and OOo v3, and in all three, I'm seeing the spaces displayed as dots about halfway up the lowercase characters in height, like so:
Are you not seeing these? I'm on an intel mac in 10.5.5 - what is your setup, and what font are you using? (the font may be irrelevant, but I'm just trying to cover all the bases).

No, not seeing any dots.
OS X 10.5.5 on Intel MBP. NeoOffice 2.2.5 with patch 4.
Font was Times New Roman, but I also tried about 10 other fonts, and still no dots.
BTW, the tab non-printing character does not show either. |

Here is something to try:
1. Select the Tools :: Options menu. In the dialog that appears, select the NeoOffice Writer :: Formatting Aids item.
2. Under "Display of" are the Spaces and the Tabs boxes unchecked? If so, does checking them solve the problem?

You might also try quitting NeoOffice, temporarily moving your preference files (as explained here in the NeoWiki) and relaunching NeoOffice - sometimes preference files get corrupted and this can cause all kinds of unexpected behaviour.

Thanks, Fran. That was the ticket. I had checked so many preferences, but not that one. |
