Fran.....

I'm going to try the same procedure with two other presentations, one initiated in PowerPoint on a Mac (the one I've been using as a sample was done on Windows) and one done in Keynote and exported to PowerPoint. I'll keep careful track of results, report the results here and put the presentations in question on S3 for download so you can dig into this more.

I'd love to find a way to make this work. So far, in two years of use, this is the first time I've run across something in NeoOffice that made me question whether I can or should continue using it rather than plunking down outrageous sums of money for M$ Office.

dshafer,

That sounds like a good idea to me. I would like to find a way to make this work as well.

thanks --fran

Well, I spent about two hours on this last night and this morning and it just doesn't seem to matter where the presentation originates. Every combination of settings I tried produced identical results, none of which was even close to the desired outcome.

I've uploaded a small test case, the first four slides of a presentation duplicted 3x each for a total of 12 slides. You can download it here. I'll be interested to see if you can produce any different results.

Thank you for providing a sample document. I tried printing the slides and the handouts and they printed as expected with no blank pages.

Since I cannot reproduce the problem you are experiencing, one thing you might want to try is to move your existing user preference files using the following steps. This will force NeoOffice to create a new set of user preference files with default values:

1. Quit NeoOffice
2. Move the following folders, if they exist, to your Desktop or the Trash (Note: "~" means your Home folder):

~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.2
~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.1

3. Restart NeoOffice

Does that change any behavior?

Fran.....

Interesting outcome.

Your suggestion made no difference on my iMac. But I thought I'd try printing the same presentation handouts on my MacBook Air and the printout worked just fine, both using the six-up layout from within NeoOffice and uisng the one-up Handouts layout in NeoOffice and ordering 9-up in the OS X print dialog.

The only difference between the two that I can find is I'm running 2.2.5 Patch 3 on the Air and Patch 4 on the iMac. I doubt that's any explanation because I have had this problem for weeks, but now I'm a little hesitant to upgrade my NeoOffice 2.2.5 on the Air. Laughing

So this remains very bewildering to me. But it appears that I can now print the handouts on my Air in NeoOffice, which solves my immediate problem but isn't much help for future users who might run into this.

Actually, I'm running NeoOffice 2.2.3, Patch 3 on the Air.

I'm not going to upgrade to 2.2.5 unless someone can tell me how I can preserve the version that's printing slides the way I want.

To keep an old version of NeoOffice, you only need to do one thing: move it out of the /Applications folder or rename it something something other than NeoOffice.app.

All of the NeoOffice installers install in /Applications/NeoOffice.app. So if you move or rename NeoOffice in the Finder (I renamed mine NeoOffice-2.2.3.app), you can then install NeoOffice 2.2.5 and NeoOffice 2.2.5 will not overwirte your existing 2.2.3 installation.

Thanks, Patrick. I assumed it would be about that easy but I didn't want to make any rash assumptions. I'll try that tomorrow and report back.
