After 30 years in computing, I can't be this stupid! I have an OTT file for Avery 5260 labels, and it's one page long. I open it, save it as a .ODT file and then start adding my addresses. My problem is when I get to the bottom of the page I need several more pages of the same templated tables in the .ODT but I can't figure out how to make it happen. Adding another page simply adds a blank page, not a page of the label tables. Thanks for any help.

I suspect that the template you are use is fairly complex and has multiple columns and frames within each column.

If you assumption is correct, the first thing to try is to open the .ott as as new document, select the entire first page, copy it, and paste it into the new empty second page in your existing document.

Does that work?

That was the first thing I tried, but unfortunately it just doesn't work. It somehow pastes the label cells in about a half inch lower than they should be so they wouldn't line up with the Avery sheets.

As much as I LOVE my Mac...it's little times like this when Microsoft Word would be a 2-second job, since all the Avery labels are built into Word and when you get to the bottom of a page just hit ENTEr and the new page is templated the same as the previous one.

It's not worth it...I've wasted six hours on this and I could have addressed 100 Christmas cards by hand by now Smile

I agree. Despite what many people say about Microsoft, Microsoft Office for Mac really is a nice piece of software. Granted, for many people the US$150 home/student may be more than they want to spend and, in many cases, NeoOffice or OpenOffice.org are a good enough substitute, but for some features, Microsoft Office really does earn its price.

Typically printing labels gets into mail-merge territory, which I've found has actually gotten worse (more complicated) over time in the OOo code at the heart of NeoOffice. I try to avoid it at all costs Sad

MacRat, thanks for that link; I always figured Address Book had to be able to do that sort of thing (though sometimes not, given its crappy export abilities), but I'd never thought it'd live in Print.

How about creating a new blank page, and then using the Insert > File… menu item and selecting the .ott template? Does that work?

Samwise,

That didn't quite work, but it was the solution...THANKS! If you add the page and then insert the file, it puts an extra page in between the first page and the new file added page. So I tried putting my cursor at the bottom left of the original labels page, just outside the framed content area, and then did the file insert...it worked perfectly! Thanks again.
