Hi--
I apologize if this is not the appropriate place to post this request. I was unable to find any media relations contact info.
I'm the Tech Editor for openmediaboston.org and would like to get into the Early Access program for v3. Is it possible for me to get access without making the $25 donation? Paying for access to a story would be rather unethical.
Sorry, but there is no special discounts for the media. The reason is twofold:
1. This is not a production release - While we have worked very hard to find and fix any bugs in the NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access release, upgrading NeoOffice to a new version of OpenOffice.org inevitable causes many new bugs and we won't release the official NeoOffice 3.0 until new critical bugs stop being found and we have fixed the ones that have been found.
2. This is not a release that we want to "advertise" - Instead, the NeoOffice Early Access Program is a way for us to thank our most generous users by allowing them to download a NeoOffice release before the official release date.
The source code is open source you are welcome to build it yourself if you really can't wait to try it out. However, since it is not a product release, the definitely do not want evaluations as even positive evaluations will only cause people to purchase and Early Access Program membership who may not realize that this is not a production release. That leads to angry, disappointed users and that, in turn, causes our very limited support resources to get overwhelmed.
