FYI. A few minutes ago, I finished upgrading this site's forum software to the latest version. Previously, we were running phpNuke version 0.4 with lots of customizations and now we are running phpNuke version 8.1.

You should not notice any change in behavior on this site as the upgrade generally contains only security and bug fixes.

If you see any breakage, please post them here. In particular, if you see any "DEBUG" messages appear in a page, please copy the entire message into your post.

On this page, and on the page on which this post appears when I click the 'Go' button against the drop down forum menu (bottom right) I get directed to this page. Confused

Basically, the "Jump to:" functionality appears to be broken.

That's always been broken on most pages; there's an old thread about it. The URLs it auto-generates are missing one or more parameters.

The trinity news stories all seem to have lost their comments.

If you view the "Stories Archive" for a given month, say March 2007, you see that the "NeoOffice 2.1 released" story is supposed to have 52 comments (I remember it was pretty active; it was the first Aqua release, after all). However, when you view the actual article page, it says "Sorry, Comments are not available for this article."

I know comments have been closed on old articles for a long time, but existing comments used to still show up (I saw them not too long ago).

Since the "Jump to" form has never worked properly, I have disabled it to avoid confusion.

This is now fixed. It seems the developers of phpNuke closed disabled viewing of comments when posting of comments is disabled so I tweaked their code to allow viewing. Good thing that I did as I found a way to post comments even if comments are disabled if you know the URI to post to. That security hole is fixed now as well.

Razz

That must be how all of these spam comments appeared Sad I went through all of the stories (for hopefully the last time, now that you've plugged the hole).

The following stories have comments that are only spam:

https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=121
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=122
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=123
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=124
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=125
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=127
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=128
https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=83

(most are from user "mylifeavifu"; I don't know if you can find all comments from a user and mass-delete them?)

https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=comments&sid=116&tid=1792&mode=nested&order=0&thold=0 (on story https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=116) is spam.

https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=comments&sid=120&tid=1791&mode=nested&order=0&thold=0 (on story https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=120) is spam; there are also two spam comments from "mylifeavifu" at the very end of that article.

Last 4 comments on https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=74 are spam.

Last comment on https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=20 is spam.

Very Happy

Thanks, Fran. Hopefully now that Patrick's fixed the hole, this will be the last time we have to do this (I remember you went on a deleting spree a few months ago, too)....

PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2009 11:39 pm    Post subject: links aren't underlined

Patrick, one other thing I've noticed: the link style in forum posts is back to the default "can't tell if it's a link" style Sad

*Years* ago you applied some additional rules to a:link, a:active, and a:visited (and maybe to the "a.postlink" variants, too) to make the links have underlining all the time.

This is now fixed. Note that you may need to clear your web browser's cache to get the updated .css file.

Smokey -

Thanks for tracking those spam comments down. I've gone through and deleted them. Let me know if you run across any more of them.

Thanks, Fran. I went through the whole 5+ years of stories preparing that list, so I hope never to see another one! Smile
