Howdy. Several years ago an open source project began called Chandler, led by Mitch Kapor (Lotus 1-2-3 developer). The initial stages did not impress me. But I downloaded version 1.0 of Chandler Desktop and it is something, a PIM, note-taker, and calendar all in one, but synched with Chandler Hub (online). In addition, it will synch with iCal and Google Calendar. It took only a few minutes to set up everything, including a Hub account.

Here is the vision of Chandler. Open Source is alive and well - and this may be the email, calendar complement to NeoOffice and OpenOffice that people want/need.

It looks like Chandler will be my primary PIM/Calendar/Note taking software. Now, if I could only synch it with Palm Desktop which synchs with my Palm Centro, everything would be great.

Yes, I saw those announcements as well. Actually, they changed the entire structure and now they have a new board. The latest view is that it will be as strong as ever, although far different than when Mitch was one of the guiding lights. I think he might have gotten too involved in the political process (US, not in Chandler); not a critical statement, just an observation.
