|
I have a header with page numbers, and it stopped for some reason halfway through my paper. I went to the help page, did it via the instructions there ("Continuation Pages"), but using a header instead, and it gives me one page number beyond what I want, i.e., 97 instead of 98.
Help! I have to hand this in soon. |

My best guess is that you changed page styles at the point that the page numbers stopped. The following instructions come from the OOo Authors Writer Guide you can download from this page.
Quote: | Method 1:
1) Place the cursor in the first paragraph of the new page.
2) Choose Format > Paragraph.
3) On the Text Flow page of the Paragraph dialog box (Figure 84 on page 81), check
Insert in the Breaks area.
4) In the Type drop-down list, select Page.
5) In the Position drop-down list, select Before or After to position where you want to
insert the page break.
6) Check With Page Style and specify the page style to use.
7) Specify the page number to start from and then click OK.
Method 2:
1) Place the cursor in the first paragraph of the new page.
2) Choose Insert > Manual break.
3) Page break is the default selected on the Insert Break dialog box
4) Choose the required page in the Style drop-down list.
5) Check Change page number.
6) Specify the page number to start from and then click OK. |

I should have mentioned that there is a page break on the page where the number stopped. I was wondering about deleting the page break and reinserting it (it is a new chapter) and seeing what happens to the page numbers. |

I would try deleting and reinserting the page break. If that doesn't fix it, delete the page break again and use Method 2 above to get the page number set correctly.
