Moving to NeoOffice Support.

I suppose you mean your Mac, as NeoOffice doesn't run on PCs.

What is the extension of your files?

A files extension is the three letters following the period at the end of the file name. For example: mydocument.odt or mydocument.doc. Different applications use different file types, so whether or not NeoOffice can open your files will depend on the extensions of the files.

If you don't see three letter extensions at the end of your file names, click on one of the files in Finder and hit command-I (or go to the File menu and choose "Get Info.") An Info window will open. Uncheck the box that says "Hide extension."

To show all document extensions, follow these instructions from the Finder Help:

Quote:
To show the extension for all files, choose Finder > Preferences and click Advanced, then select "Show all file extensions."

OK. I think we are talking about the same thing, but I just want make sure there is no confusion. .wps files are the file format for files saved in Microsoft Works. NeoOffice is able to understand the file format that Microsoft uses for .wps files, but NeoOffice there will be cases where NeoOffice cannot understand what is in some .wps files.

This is because the .wps file format is a proprietary file format that Microsoft has treated as a trade secret. Consequently, NeoOffice has had to reverse engineer the .wps file format so you should expect that some formatting may be lost when you open .wps files in NeoOffice.

In particular, you can see the extent of compatibility here.
