Hi there,

I did a search for this subject, but either I don't know the best keywords for the subject or it hasn't been posted yet.

At any rate, I was hoping someone might know if NeoOffice has (or will have) the ability to click on an icon within the program (like its email or internet browser links) that would open up one's default IM program.

I know Word has the ability to open Messenger through its program, but really, who wants to use either Word or Messenger?

The feature really comes in handy when doing critique work on documents.

Thank you! Smile

That functionality is not built in, and probably won't be in the future, but I think it's not too fiddly to write a macro that will open another app, and then assign that macro to a key combo or a button.

I don't have the skillz but someone here will probably be able to help you out, if it's a simple as I suspect it is.

While that is an interesting idea, I am sorry to give you the bad news that we cannot implement your feature request.

Unfortunately, our very limited funding and developer resources limits the current scope of the NeoOffice project to keeping a native version of OpenOffice.org running on Mac OS X and implementing new OpenOffice.org features is outside that scope.

You can file a feature request in the OpenOffice.org issue tracker to see if the core OpenOffice.org developers have the resources to implement your feature request and, if they implement your feature request, the new behavior will get included in a future release of NeoOffice:

http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html

Note: our advice is to not mention NeoOffice as mentioning NeoOffice may cause OOo volunteers to accidentally close it without actually reviewing your feature request.
