thanks patrick .....hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....well like i said i went into options last night and updated my laugauge to the appropriate .. noob , but I'm lost! "uncomment the applicable entry in the /Applications/NeoOfficeJ.app/Contents/share/dict/ooo/dictionary.lst file and restart Neo/J." ?????????????? more help would be appreciated. thanks

I know, this seems kind of stupid, but the underlying OOo code gets bogged down when all dictionaries are enabled and this restriction was implemented to work around that problem.
Anyway, to enable a dictionary, uncomment the applicable entry in the /Applications/NeoOfficeJ.app/Contents/share/dict/ooo/dictionary.lst file and restart Neo/J. Then you should be able to activate the uncommented dictionary.

That part of the forum topic is probably not applicable to your case. That part is only applicable if your machine is set to English and you want to enable spellchecking for a different language (e.g. French, German, etc.) .
In your case, you should only need to select the Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages and select "English (USA)" from the "Default Languages - Western" list box.

Hi Merliness,

I had this same issue when I first upgraded to Alpha 2. Nothing would get spell check working again, inline or otherwise. Finally deleted all the neoJ files I could find and resinstalled. That worked. Something must not have installed correctly.
