I have been reading what I can about NeoOffice Mobile. I am very interested since I pretty much use NeoOffice exclusively, and would love to be able to create and edit documents on my iPhone. I have been using QuickOffice on my iPhone, but it does not "like" documents that I create in NeoOffice, even when I save them as Word documents. I cannot tell if this program has a the goal of doing this, or if it is just going to allow you to read these documents.

NeoOffice Mobile is not a document editing tool. Instead, it is really designed to be a way for NeoOffice users to share their documents in a format that is readable by all common web browsers and mobile devices.

As you have found, editing documents on a phone is not an easy thing to do and, for us, would be the equivalent of rewriting NeoOffice from scratch. Given that making an document editing application would be a huge technical challenge and require lots of funding that we do not have, document editing is not something we will be able to put in NeoOffice Mobile.

Thank you for answering my question. I am not a programmer, so I have no idea how difficult it is to make an editor for a mobile device like the iPhone. I appreciate your quick response to my question.

I should add that while NeoOffice Mobile will not able to edit documents, you can download the original .odt, .ods., or .odp file and use any application on your phone that can edit documents those file formats.

Yeah right now we aren't targeting being an editor similar to QuickOffice, rather just working on being a viewer. Unfortunately, Neo/OOo are not pure Cocoa apps and don't really translate to iPhones.
