I don't think that this is an immediate concern but I did notice that when I uploaded a password protected Spreadsheet that the password protection seemed to have been stripped out.

As this process evolves it would be good to warn users that the password functionality will not work before they push it up.

My first impression is very positive. Good work on this. I'm glad to see this 'cloud-style' work being done and explored with Neooffice.

This is definitely a bug IMHO. Since we cannot password protected HTML files, I think we need to add a dialog that warns you that your file will not be password protected. You can then cancel the upload if you are not confortable with uploading the file.

Creating the dialog is not too hard. The hard part will be finding out how to determine if the current document is a password protected document.

I'll start looking for any OpenOffice.org internal functions that we might be able to use to get that info for the current document.

Good news. I can detect if a document is password protected. Ed and I need to add a dialog. To do this, we need to translate the following text message. Can anyone translate this message?:

Quote:
This will be uploaded without any password protection.
Do you still want to upload this document?

Upload
Cancel

Edit by pluby: correct typos and shorten warning
Second edit by pluby: change Yes to Upload

Yes
No

[Warning: annoying UI hat on Wink]

Can we make those into the more Mac-like/HIG-compliant
Quote:
Upload
Don’t Upload

instead?

I know the rest of OOo's dialogues and UI are crap, but we can choose not to perpetuate the crap in areas that are purely NeoOffice code, right? Smile

I edited my post to replace "Yes" with "Upload" and "No" with "Cancel". I used Cancel because that is what will happen if you press it: you will get Tim's upload cancelled page.

I have added Samwise's French translations to the code. I will wait until tomorrow to see if any more translations come in and then I will post another test patch with the new dialog.

Attached is a snapshot of the English dialog.

FYI. I have added the new password protection document check and warning dialog in the following test patch. Please let me know if I made in errors in the translations or if the code fails to correctly detect if a document is password protected or not:

FYI. I have made some updates to the NeoOffice Mobile code recently. Can you install the following test patch and tell us if this bug is still fixed with password protected files?:

http://joe.neooffice.org/test/NeoOffice-2.2.5-Patch-13-Test-5-Intel.dmg

I have uploaded a password protected file after updating to 3.0-patch-5-Test-6-Intel and I received the message that the file would not be password protected after upload (see screen shot).

Mac OS 10.5.7, firefox 3.5.1

No problems here!
