I received a W**d document containing quite a bit of math. Importing the doc into either NeoOffice/J 0.84 or OOo 1.1.2 makes the math look horrible. (Well, OOo math has always looked awful, but this is worse than usual.) I get the impression that the problem is that the formulæ are rendered with the wrong font so that symbols are replaced by alphabetic characters. The style droplist says "OLE", which I guess might be a reason I can't change the font with Format->Object.
I presume this is a known problem, but is it on the to-fix list or is it a "MS has shipped you an object only they can read"?
The issue is that your document depends on a special Microsoft Windows font. Symbol fonts have no standard assignment of glyph numbers for their symbols and so subsitutituting the Windows Symbol font for the Apple Symbol font will almost never result in the same symbols showing.
This is not a Neo/J or OOo bug but an incompatibility causes by Microsoft and Apple graphic designers just doing things two diferrent ways.
