In the EA, Patch 1, I am unable to set the default template. There seems to be two issues.

1. After saving the template, the organize templates dialogue is missing the template I saved.

2. The option to set as default is missing.

The template path is correct in my preferences, and if I go to create a new document from template, then I see my new template and can create a document with it.

Am I missing something?

I will take a look at this and post back here when I have some more information. I am comparing the behavior to OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 which NeoOffice 3.0 and NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access is based on.

Can you try the following steps to create and set as a default template?:

1. Create your template document

2. Select the File :: Templates :: Save menu

3. In the dialog window that opens, select My Templates in the Categories column

4. Enter the name of the template in the New Template box and press the OK button

5. Select the File :: Templates :: Organize menu

6. In the dialog that opens, double click the My Templates folder in the left column to open that folder

7. Select your new template in the folder and Right-click or Control-click. In the menu that appears, select Set as Default Template

8. Press the Close button

9. Select the File :: New menu and select the type of document for your default template (for example Text Document)

Does the template you created open?

Aha! It's the double-click in the organizer that does the trick!

What is misleading is that with the two panes, one expects to see the templates on the right when you "select" (single click) the folder on the left.

When you double-click the template folder, the folder opens in the same pane, and you can see your files and the full range of options with a right-click.

Perhaps the wiki needs to be more specific? Include a few screen shots?

"Open the "My Templates" folder in the left part of the window and select the template you want"

If that is the intended behavior, then it's a documentation thing, yes? Though I would submit that the behavior is counter-intuitive.

OoO or NeoOffice issue to begin with?

Thanks!

I am glad to know that it is working for you now.

Thank you for pointing that out. I have updated the wording in the NeoWiki article, Editing Default Styles and Using Templates.

This is an issue in NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code.
