Hello, I can't launch the open office, I have a Mac OS X 10.3.5, when i launch open office, only appears in the screen a window that says "Information: please wait", but nothing is launched, then i go to the menu "Start openoffice.org" and i try to launch the writer, but again appears the same window (please wait)...
I have installed XDarwin and X11, but i can't resolve the problem.
Any idea?

Is XDarwin in the default location (/Applications, I think) and have you selected it in the Start OpenOffice.org preferences?

Or is X11 in /Applications/Utilities and is it selected in the Start OpenOffice.org preferences?

I don't think having two different X servers available should be a problem, as long as they are both in their proper locations and one of them is selected in the Start OpenOffice.org preferences. It might be, however, that Start OOo doesn't know which one to choose at first launch.

Also, is OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 installed in /Applications/OpenOffice.org1.1.2? Because OOo is a UNIX app full of symlinks (and sometime hard-coded paths!), it has to be installed in a particular place and can't be moved.

I have this applications in the correct place. I have downloaded versions: 1.0.3 adn 1.1.3 (in french) but I can't launch correctly this version (1.1.2), now when i finish the download of this version and launch it automaticly Start Openoffice.org goes to old version, but in its preferences I can't choose the 1.1.2 version, only the other two. What can i do?

Check out the ".sversionrc" file in your home directory and see if you have a line beginning with "OpenOffice.org 1.1.2". If you don't have it in there, add it in manually and point it to wherever you installed OOo 1.1.2. The default installation location in Appllications would look like the following:

Code:

OpenOffice.org 1.1.2=file:///Applications/OpenOffice.org1.1.2
