In the meantime, can you tell us if you have the the View :: Nonprinting Characters checked? If so, does unchecking the menu stop the bug from occurring?

I've noticed the same bug in 3.0.2 patch 0, both on left-justified and fully justified documents. Version 3.0.1 worked fine.

I also found what seems to be a bug bug when pasting unicode Greek text into a document. The letters are so piled on each other (massive negative kerning?), that it's impossible to type.

I too have tried many different fonts, but the problem persists.

I cannot reproduce this behavior. When I copy Greek text, the characters are normally spaced so there must be something unique in your document that triggers this behavior.

Would you be able to attach a sample document that I could use to reproduce this bug? You can attach a sample document using the steps in this forum post.

I pasted the line with the overlapping text into a sample document. The sample shows exactly the same problem. The same overlapping or negative kerning shows up when this text is in the body of the document too. Toggling nonprinting-character view didn't change it. Changing fonts didn't help. I tried to set kerning to expanded 0pt with kerning pairs unchecked and saw a slight but negligible improvement. The kerning pairs setting was back on when I went to the same dialogue box with the same selected text to try a higher expanded kerning setting.

I could not reproduce the bug on Mac OS X 10.4.11, but I did see it on Mac OS X 10.6.2. On 10.6.2, only one word in the footnote appears to be have this bug (see the attached screen snapshot). Is that what you see?

I will start working on a fix for this bug. When I have a fix, I will post a test patch so that you can test my fix.

Also, since this appears to be a different bug from the bug that started this forum topic, I have split our posts about this bug into a new forum topic so that other users will be able to find the test patch that I will evenutally post more easily.

Yes, that's what I see. I am using Mac OS 10.6.2.

Although I don't have a fix for this bug yet, I now know that the bug occurs on all versions of NeoOffice when you use the Georgia font for Greek characters on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Fortunately, I have found a workaround that you can use until I find a fix for this bug: highlight any Greek characters and change the font to Helvetica. The Georgia font on Snow Leopard cannot render Greek characters so Helvetica is used as the "fallback font". In your case, the fallback process triggers this bug so by explicitly setting the font to Helvetica for Greek characters, the fallback process is avoid and the bug will not occur.

I installed the Intel 3.0.2 Patch 0 Test 1, and the overlapping text problem was gone. I tried pasting text with Hebrew and Greek unicode text, and there were no problems. Thank you for handling this so quickly!
