I'd already installed NeoOffice 3.4 Patch 0 Test 5, so to establish that the bug existed I re-applied Patch 0 Test 1. However this still opened the template.pptx from the RedHat bug report without causing NeoOffice to crash.
I then tried to open the same file using NeoOffice 2013.1 and the crash did occur. I can confirm that after installing Test 6 the crashing no longer occurs in NeoOffice 2013.1.

What you saw isn't unexpected. The reason is that reapplying Patch 0 Test 1 does not revert all of the files in Patch 0 Test 5. In order to fix the bug, I had to add a new file in Patch 0 Test 5 and that new file will remain if you reapply an older test patch.

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 3.4.1 which can be downloaded from the NeoOffice download page.

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 2013.2 which is available in Apple's Mac App Store.
