I've found an issue with creating Charts in Calc.
1. Open a new spreadsheet.
2. Click the chart button on the tool bar to open the Chart Wizard
3. Click the 3D Look check box.
4. Select a style: Simple or Realistic
5. Observe that the Selection is not displayed in the button.
If you then click Next>> through the remaining steps of the wizard an empty chart is drawn. Now:
1. Double click on the chart so that it displays a dark border
2. Rick click on the body of the chart and choose 3D View from the menu
3. Observe that under the Appearance tab the Scheme is Custom
4. It is now possible to select Realistic or Simple and have the selection stick.
I hope that make some sense. Again it's a minor thing.
I don't think this a bug. Instead, what is happening is that when the chart's data range all empty cells, the OpenOffice code does not allow you to set the 3D view scheme option. This behavior also occurs in OpenOffice 4.1.1 and LibreOffice 4.3.5.
If you select a range of empty cells with more than one column and more than one row (or you select a single non-empty cell), the 3D view scheme will be enabled in the Chart Wizard.
I assume that you expanded the chart's data range at some point because I could not set the 3D view scheme in the 3D View dialog if the chart's data range was only a single empty cell. But if I expanded the range to more than one column and more than one row, I could then set the 3D view scheme in the 3D View dialog.

Sorry, my mistake, I've tried it again with some data and it works. It was because I was making graphs with several non-adjacent data series, when it is easier to start with nothing selected and just add the series one by one later in the wizard.
