A NeoOffice user found a few cases where NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code wants NeoOffice to show a "wait" cursor for only a fraction of second. Because there is no wait cursor on OS X, NeoOffice displays an OS X spinning wait icon in the center of a window.
Unfortunately, the OS X spinning wait icon requires a fraction of second each time it is displayed. As a result, in the cases where the OpenOffice code wants NeoOffice to rapidly switch the wait cursor on and off, the extra time needed to display the OS X spinning wait icon can slow down NeoOffice significantly.
To avoid such slowdowns, I have found a way to delay display of the OS X spinning wait cursor so that NeoOffice will just skip display of the OS X spinning wait icon when the OpenOffice code wants NeoOffice to show a wait cursor for only a fraction of a second.
You do not need to wait until the next NeoOffice release to get the fix. You can get the fix now by downloading and installing one of the following test patches:
