I have downloaded ooo103darwingm.dmg from several sites and every time the installer unexpectedly quits immediately after it starts up. Any ideas? Can I bypass the installer via the terminal? Help! I want to use OOo! |

If the installer's quitting, then there's something wrong either with the java VM on your machine or you're running out of swap space. Your best bet is to try to install all of the components manually and use the X11 based installer. You'll have to do several steps manually, like fonduing the fonts you want and adding in multiuser support if you want it.
Right now the only available X11 installers are the RC2 tarball here (outdated) and the 1.0.3 Brand X installer. I don't know of any for 1.0.3 GM X11...I haven't had the time to put together one and verify it yet.

Thanks. I did some testing and found that a few other installers and other programs were also quitting unexpectedly on me (seemingly at random, but I'm sure there was some common underlying theme). I reinstalled Jaguar and then it all worked. |

By any chance had you installed the "Java 1.4.1 Update" in your previous Jag installation? If you reinstalled Jag off the CDs, I believe it would have removed the 1.4.1 Update and gone back to Java 1.3.1. Do you know if the other apps that were crashing were using Java?
While the InstallAnywhere installer should launch using a 1.3.1 VM, but something funky may have gone on with how it chooses VMs. I launched it from the command line with 1.4.1 a long time ago and it seemed to work after I did some graphics fixes, but I've never tested it with 1.4.1 beyond launching (didn't go through and do a full install).
