If you've downloaded NeoOffice 1.2 and are experiencing a problem, first make sure that you have installed the latest patch. A "patch" is a small software update that fixes performance issues and other bugs located after software release.
You can find the latest NeoOffice patch at:
http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/patch.php
To be informed when new patches are released, you can subscribe to the update mailing list by sending an e-mail to:
neojupdate-subscribe at heapsys.com (replace "at" with @).
Edit by pluby: Full instructions for subscribing and unsubscribing are available on the NeoOffice support page.

You can also turn on the automatic check for new patches on application launch by removing the following file:
/Applications/NeoOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/.nocheckforpatches
When this file is present, patch checking is disabled. When this file is removed, automatic patch-checking is re-enabled. When the application is launched and a new patch is available, the patch page URL listed above will be automatically opened in a web browser. You will still need to manually download and run the patch installer to apply the patch.
Patch checking and notification requires a connection to the Internet to search for patches. Patch checking is not enabled by default for NeoOffice 1.2.
During major releases automatic patch checking is disabled to minimize server load. It tends to be enabled only for alpha and beta releases.

Yup, makes no sense any longer. We'll post a patch page as soon as it becomes an issue. Right now during the non-final releases the software has the online patch-checking still enabled so users can see notification of enabled patches. The topic was more for the final releases which didn't have that enabled by default (with good reason too) so people weren't really aware that they should check the patch page to get the latest bugfixes.
