I'm new to openoffice/neooffice and would like suggestions on bibliography software integration. I'd like to replace endnote/MS word. I've come across bibdesk and it is a very polished reference manager. Is there a way to format a bibtex bibliography with an openoffice writer document? Bibus looked promising, but seems that the mac version is old and no longer in development.

Thanks, and sorry if this seems to be a repetitive topic or thread. Just hoping that there is some updated info since the old posts.

You could also take a look at this page on the OpenOffice.org page. It mentions a lot of Biliography software programs (not many for Mac); unfortunately it says nothing about whether or not the various programs are compatible with OpenOffice.org.

If OOo can work with BibTeX files, BibDesk might work for you. But the link above was not clear on that point. Sad

Edit: I just added this link to the wiki article Jacqueline recommended.

Hi there,
My wife went through all of College and used NoodelBib and online bibliography service. There are free versions and subscriptions.
It cost about $4 per semester but it is worth the money because it is
  • on the web,
  • guides youthrough the information to collect based on type,
  • always accessible,
  • you can collect the bibliography in the format your professor requires,
  • you can e-mail lists and you can
  • save them as Word doc or RTf in the correct fromatting.

Hope you'll find it useful.
