Posted: Mon Sep 22, 2014 4:24 pm Post subject: NeoOffice updates for OS X Yosemite and iCloud Drive
Over the last few months, we have been preparing NeoOffice for Apple's upcoming Mac OS X Yosemite. We believe NeoOffice is now ready for Yosemite so we have released the following NeoOffice updates:
Both of these NeoOffice updates also add support for OS X Yosemite's new iCloud Drive feature. We have made significant changes to NeoOffice's native file locking code to safely open, save, or delete files in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or network drives.
Both of these NeoOffice updates also include fixes for the following bugs:
NeoOffice would randomly crash when checking if a document has been moved or renamed
NeoOffice would only display the first image in many .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx documents
If you already purchased NeoOffice in the Mac App Store, you can upgrade to NeoOffice 2014.3 for free. To upgrade, launch the App Store application, select the Store :: Sign In menu, login using your Apple iTunes account, click on the "Purchases" icon, and press the "Install" button to the right of NeoOffice.
If you already have NeoOffice 3.4.1 installed, you can download NeoOffice 3.4.1 Patch 8 for free from the NeoOffice 3.4.1 patch download page.

Posted: Wed Sep 24, 2014 4:48 pm Post subject: Fix for missing bullets after saving a presentation file
Over the last few days, several Mac App Store users discovered the following bug in NeoOffice: after saving an .odp presentation file, all bullet characters will be hidden when the file is reopened in NeoOffice, OpenOffice, or LibreOffice. Fortunately, the bullet characters are not lost. NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code only hides, not removes, the bullet characters.
We have already fixed this OpenOffice bug and you do not have to wait until the next Mac App Store update to get the fix. You can get the fix now by installing one of the following test patches and reopening your .odp file. After installing one of the test patches, the hidden bullets in your .odp file should now be visible.
Important note: this bug also exists in OpenOffice and LibreOffice so if you need to open your .odp file in OpenOffice or LibreOffice, resave the file in NeoOffice first. This will ensure that this bug is not triggered when you open your .odp file in OpenOffice or LibreOffice:
For those who are curious, this bug is caused by NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code misinterpreting our Mac App Store version numbers. When you save a file, the version of NeoOffice that you are using is included in the file. The OpenOffice code interprets NeoOffice 2013 and 2014 as the same to as NeoOffice 2.x. This causes the OpenOffice code to incorrectly assume that your .odp file was saved in the very old OpenOffice 2.2 format.

Recently, several Mac App Store users discovered the following data loss bugs:
After saving an .odp document, all bullet characters would be hidden when the document was reopened in NeoOffice, OpenOffice, or LibreOffice
After saving certain .odt documents, some pages would be hidden when the document was reopened in NeoOffice, OpenOffice, or LibreOffice
After opening a document that contains a link to an unreadable or nonexistent .ods document, clicking on the linked .ods document would cause NeoOffice to crash
We have fixed these bugs and the fixes are available in the following NeoOffice updates:
If you already purchased NeoOffice in the Mac App Store, you can upgrade to NeoOffice 2014.5 for free. To upgrade, launch the App Store application, select the Store :: Sign In menu, login using your Apple iTunes account, click on the "Purchases" icon, and press the "Install" button to the right of NeoOffice.

In the next month, the NeoOffice engineers plan to release NeoOffice 2014.7 in Apple's Mac App Store. NeoOffice 2014.7 will include a new feature: native OS X "speak selected text".
The NeoOffice engineers have added support for OS X's native "speak selected text" feature so that NeoOffice speaks selected text when you press OS X's "speak selected text" key shortcut.
You do not have to wait until NeoOffice 2014.7 is released to try this new feature. NeoOffice 2014 and NeoOffice 3.4.1 users can try this new feature by downloading a test patch from this NeoWiki article.

The NeoOffice engineers have added support for OS X's native "speak selected text" feature. With this new feature, NeoOffice speaks your document's selected text when you press OS X's speak selected text key shortcut.
This new feature is now available in the following NeoOffice updates:
Both of these NeoOffice updates also include fixes for the following bugs:
When opening a new document while in full screen mode, the new document window would be displayed as a normal window instead of a full screen window
After closing a full screen document window, in certain cases all windows would not be visible and only the active document's menubar would be visible
When in a Calc document, merged cells could not be selected using the Shift and arrow keys
When in a Calc document, editing a cell that has been scrolled off the edge of the document window would cause the cell's formula to be drawn in the wrong position
When in a Calc document, the NeoOffice > Services menu would use text from the last selected combobox instead of the currently selected cell
When in a Writer document, the NeoOffice > Services menu would use the last selected text even after unselecting all text
If you already purchased NeoOffice in the Mac App Store, you can upgrade to NeoOffice 2014.7 for free. To upgrade, launch the App Store application, select the Store :: Sign In menu, login using your Apple iTunes account, click on the "Purchases" icon, and press the "Upgrade" button to the right of NeoOffice.

Recently, a NeoOffice user discovered the following bug when running NeoOffice on OS X Yosemite: when exporting a document to PDF, all text in the document that uses a Type 1 font would not be displayed in the exported PDF.
We also found another bug: if a user was running the Mac App Store version of NeoOffice and had any documents opened for more than a day, OS X would sometimes delete NeoOffice's temporary files. This, in turn, would cause saving any open documents to fail until NeoOffice was relaunched.
We have already fixed these bugs and NeoOffice 2014.7 and NeoOffice 3.4.1 users can download the fixes now by following the upgrade steps in the Yosemite Upgrade Issues NeoWiki article.

Posted: Sun Mar 15, 2015 9:02 am Post subject: Crashes when printing?
We have seen several cases where, after upgrading to OS X Yosemite, NeoOffice crashes when printing. These crashes occur when your machine's printer driver software is incompatible with OS X Yosemite.
To stop crashes in your printer driver software, you will need to download and install an updated version of driver software for your particular printer. Each printer manufacturer creates their own printer driver software so you will need to search the web for printer drivers. Be sure to include the manufacturer name and module number of your printer when searching the web.

We have fixed the following bugs that were recently found by NeoOffice users:
NeoOffice would sometimes crash when quitting
When saving .ods files that were originally created in OpenOffice or LibreOffice, NeoOffice would require the user to reset the password for each protected sheet
When clicking on cells in .ods files that were originally created in LibreOffice, NeoOffice would fail to select any cells in protected sheets
NeoOffice would draw punctuation characters in Japanese vertical text in the wrong position and with horizontal font glyphs
When querying for null values in spreadsheet data sources, empty cells would be treated as if they were not null
When sending a mail merge to a file instead of to the printer, NeoOffice would fail to create the mail merge file
