I captured some screens in OSX 10.3.9, which saved the pics as .pdf files.

They open OK in Preview.
I would like to open them in Draw and edit them.

Open... Picture 1, 2, etc, always presents what looks part of the list of file types instead of the .pdf Pictures.

How can I get them into Draw?

Hmm...Draw can't actually open PDFs to edit them. Your best bet might be to do the following:

    1) Open the screenshot in Preview.app
    2) Choose File > Export
    3) Change file type to TIFF (or JPG)
    4) Open resulting TIFF in Draw

That's the sequence I've been using with screencaptures in my own tech docs. Draw is also really geared towards more vector drawing, a la Illustrator. I don't think that Preview really offers a way to export vector drawing in a way that OOo/NeoJ Draw can understand.

On a different note, Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" screencaptures to PNG files and not PDF. I'm pretty sure you should be able to embed those 10.4 PNGs directly into docs without that additional Preview export step.

Many thanks for the prompt reply!

That works. I tried it saving with tiff, png, and even photoshop formats in Preview.

Neo opened them all.

From the Grab Help

You can use Grab to take a picture or screen shot of all or part of your computer screen. Grab saves screen shots as files in TIFF format.

This saves one conversion step from Preview route. You'll find Grab in Mac OS X systems at /Applications/Utilities/Grab

Another nifty thing about Grab (depending on what you're showing in screenshots) is that you can show cursors if need be, and choose which ones (or show no cursor).

See my "tutorial" for applying patches to Neo/J 0.8.x for an example.

Ah, the old hard way days Smile Right after I posted the tutorial, Patrick switched patches to use the installer Very Happy
