I'm able to associate .ppt and .doc files so that they open in Neo Office. But when I try to do the same for .xls files, Neooffice does no appear in the "open with" options in the information dialog window for the file. So it can't be associated. What's the trick?

Open the Get Info window for the .xls file (cmd-I or using the contextual menu), click on the Open With dropdown - at the bottom of this list it says Other... click on that, and you then get a dialog called Choose Other Application where you can navigate to NeoOffice/J and choose it. You will probably need to change Recommended Applications to All Applications in the dropdown at the top of the dialog before it'll let you choose Neo/J. You also need to tick the Always Open With option in the bottom left corner of the dialog - this'll ensure that from now on, every .xls file opens in Neo/J.

If your OSX isn't using English, the names of the options described above will be in your chosen language, but I hope this gives you enough to be working with.
