Does anybody know if there is a possibility to edit read-only documents? I receive often word documents for review over e-mail and have to make comments. But they are read-only. To edit them I need to first save them somewhere. I would rather edit them, send over e-mail the edited version without saving a copy that I don't need. Therefore my question - is there a way I could edit these documents without first saving them. (such a possibility is in MSWord)

Assuming you're using Apple Mail, mail locks attachments to be read only, and you can't edit them. If you click the 'edit document' icon in Neo/J (5th from the left, top row, if you haven't rearranged things) it will create a copy of the document to edit. You can then send this using the File/Send/document as email/ command, but it will be called noname0.doc, which doesn't look too good. Even if you set the Title field in File/Properties, this title is not used as the attachment filename.

A workaround is to open the incoming email, and forward it to wherever it has to go. This copies the attachment into a new outgoing message, which doesn't happen if you just reply. The outgoing attachment is editable - just double-click it, edit as needed in Neo/J, save, and send the message.

Hope this helps

Luke
