|
Hello,
How do I adjust my settings so that Open Office 2 opens MS Office documents by default using OSX 10.3.9?
Cheers,

if you right click on a MS office file (you'll have to do this once each for word, ppt and excell) and click 'get info'
there is a section of the box that pops up that has the program which opens that file. change that to openoffice.org. right below that should be a button that says 'change all'
and poof! |

Is there any way to get something other than a blank icon as the default for Microsoft files? As soon as I changed documents and excel spreadsheets to open with OOo, the icons went blank. I know how to change an individual icon via Get Info, but not all at once.

Yes, there is. Go into Preferences > Load/Save. Under document type select e.g. Text document and in the drop down list to the right select Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP. Do the same for spreadsheets etc. That will make these file types "native" to NeoO and assign the respective NeoO file icon to these files. |
