I have OS X 10.3, but I can't install NeoOffice 1.2. I tried the language thing and it still doesn't work. I think It may be a problem with not enough ram. If so, does anyone know where I can find version 1.1?

NeoOffice/J 1.1 was withdrawn due to a serious problem with the Apple installer that NeoOffice requires for installation. There is the very, very, very slight possiblity that, on installation, your entire hard drive could be erased. Since this possibility exists, and Patrick knew about it, he decided that the best thing to do was remove NeoOffice/J 1.1 from availability.

BTW, only one user has ever encountered this problem, but that is one too many.

NeoOffice 1.2.2 does not have this problem, nor will NeoOffice 2.0.

Woah, 1st I heard that one. Glad I seemed to luck out. 1.1 installed w/o a hitch for me.

*Quietly goes to check and see if anything is missing from HDD*

That's a "biggie". I remember way back when an early version iTunes installer would do that, I think, or some other Apple program. Very embarrassing situation for Apple.

It appears that Apple silently fixed the problem. I don't have all of the details on the problems with the installer. However, the problem was discovered after Patrick stopped working with Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) and Java 1.3.1, which were the baseline for NeoOffice/J 1.1. Thus, the fix cannot be confirmed for this version and for safety, this version was withdrawn.

It shouldn't be RAM; the installer doesn't check that. Can you give us the exact error message you get? Have you checked the Installation Issues FAQ in the wiki?

Smokey

OK, thanks for the clarification. I have the matching components versions you state so I guess that's why I had/have no problems.
