Hi, on opening an existing slide show ( Neooffice 2.Alpha ) I simply get a totally white screen. Nothing else to be seen.

How about creating a new presentation? In theory they should be the same.

Since all of my sample presentations work correctly for me, please attach a sample document that demonstrates this behavior to the bug that you filed. It cannot be fixed until there is a reproducible test case.

Hi Patrick,

Same thing happens to me. NeoOffice PowerPC 2.0 Alpha 3.
Opening any existing presentation, starting slide show, goes to blank
white screen. Interesting that I can turn on the slide navigator
and *that* shows, but no slide content. OS X 10.4.6, up to
all current patch levels. Here for example is a presentation
for which this occurs:

It also occurs with older NeoOffice 1.1-generated presos.

Help please,

This was fixed nearly a month ago. Download the latest patch from the NeoOffice patch download page.

Hi Patrick,

Indeed, the patch solved it, thanks.

I thought the patch fixes were in the release.

Thanks for the response and sorry for the non-RTFM.

Patches are generally not rolled into the binaries, and during the Alpha/Beta cycles patches come fast and furious so it's always a good idea to check for a patch immediately after getting the application. Patch checking is also enabled for Alpha/Beta releases which will periodically search for a new patch and display a webpage in your browser pointing you to the patch download site to get it.

Patch checking is disabled in final releases for a variety of reasons not the least of which is that system administrators doing large installs don't exactly want all of their computers pinging servers (as well as our servers not wanting to be swamped with pings).

Some more on patch checking and how we handle this is in this post and corresponding topic.

Each release contains the latest patch available when they are released, but Patrick doesn't release a new version of NeoOffice every time a new patch is out.

If you have NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 3, then you have NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 3 Patch 0. Therefore, NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 3 Patch 3 contains new code not included in the Alpha 3 release.

Currently, patches are released regularly, every two weeks (Patrick rolls out patches for Intel and PPC releases simulatneously, and Intel patches coincide with new Intel releases, which coincide with a step in the Early Access Program). There may not be a new PPC release until 2.0 Beta.

Bingo. There won't be no new release until Beta as there are no further "full" alpha releases planned, only patches.

Yup, we are. PowerPC Alpha 4 should roll in all of the patches mentioned above off of a 2.0.2 base.
