Well, it appears that I didn't fully fix bug 1569 in the last test patch so here is another:

Intel: http://www.planamesa.com/test/NeoOffice-2.0_Alpha_4-Patch-0-Test-7-Intel.dmg
PowerPC: http://www.planamesa.com/test/NeoOffice-2.0_Alpha_4-Patch-0-Test-7-PowerPC.dmg

If you have not installed any of the previous test patches, please reboot after installing the patch as running NeoOffice after the patch won't really change anything since previous runs of NeoOffice will have forced all fonts to load.

Here's another test patch. if this one is OK, I'll release an official Neo 2.0 Alpha 4 patch. This patch has more fixes for bug 1569. Also, it has a fix for bug 1527 which affects Intel users. That bug, which makes it impossible to save a file in PowerPoint format, exists in the Intel versions of both OOo X11 and NeoOffice and this patch fixes it:

Intel: http://www.planamesa.com/test/NeoOffice-2.0_Alpha_4-Patch-0-Test-8-Intel.dmg
PowerPC: http://www.planamesa.com/test/NeoOffice-2.0_Alpha_4-Patch-0-Test-8-PowerPC.dmg

If you have not installed any of the previous test patches, please reboot after installing the patch as running NeoOffice after the patch won't really change anything since previous runs of NeoOffice will have forced all fonts to load.

This patch works fine for me. Startup time drastically reduced and all is ok.

After I installed it, and it certain loads much faster, but it only lists one font (Utopia Std Display), and it won't let me type in or select any other font. I don't think this was the planned behavior.

I'm running this on a MacBook (Intel).

It is not.

Could you give a bit more detail about your system? And maybe on the fonts you have installed? I do not recognize the one you mentioned.

Best wishes,
Oscar

If you open the TextEdit application and select the Format -> Fonts -> Show Fonts menu item, does only one font appear as well? If so, I suspect that you have somehow disabled all of your system fonts. In that case, open the Font Book application, select all of the listed fonts, select the Edit -> Enable Fonts menu item, and quit and relaunch NeoOffice.

Here's one more test patch that hopefully fixes bug 1569:

Intel: http://www.planamesa.com/test/NeoOffice-2.0_Alpha_4-Patch-0-Test-9-Intel.dmg
PowerPC: http://www.planamesa.com/test/NeoOffice-2.0_Alpha_4-Patch-0-Test-9-PowerPC.dmg

If you have not installed any of the previous test patches, please reboot after installing the patch as running NeoOffice after the patch won't really change anything since previous runs of NeoOffice will have forced all fonts to load.

I have 95 fonts, and all are enabled. I can see and select them in other applications like Font Book, Text Edit, etc. Only NeoOffice, after installing the patch, displays one font.

Can you post a link to one of these enabled fonts that don't show up in NeoOffice? My code screens out certain fonts that have zero height and I'm curious if my code is too agressive with some fonts.

Most of my fonts are OpenType from an Adobe collection. NeoOffice was able to list and use them before.

I forgot to mention that all the fonts being used within NeoOffice itself also appears to be Utopia (a serif font) instead of the previous sans-serif. To see what I'm talking about, I have three screenshots, including one of Font Book (if that helps at all):

A link as in to download the actual font? Most of my fonts were purchased from a font collection, so I don't think it's all that legal if I did that.

However, none of the system fonts are displayed either. I'm not sure what makes Utopia so special, especially since it's not displaying all available versions of Utopia.

I was hoping that one of your font vendors had a free downloadable sample font available or a try before buy. Sad

gerbilbox,

I have uploaded a simple test program that will show what errors, if any, are occurring in my code. To run the test sample, do the following steps:

1. Download http://www.planamesa.com/test/test1 to your Home folder.
2. Open the /Applications/Utilities/Terminal application.
3. In the Terminal window, execute the following commands:

Code:
chmod 755 ~/test1 ; ~/test1

4. Post any output.

Also, if you're on Tiger, please use FontBook to also debug your fonts so we can isolate whether it's our stuff or a font. See the following:

The code didn't seem to do anything, after I ran it in Terminal, it returns me to the command prompt and doesn't do anything even as I launch NeoOffice.
