Is it me or did Trinity's IP change within the last hour ?
I realized this when my build failed because Terminal couldn't find anoncvs.neooffice.org ... |

No the IPs didn't change in the last hour. The DNS seems to be working over here for me for anoncvs.
One thing to be aware of is that for some reason there are a bunch of people cybersquatting on typo domains (generally hosting ad-filled web pages, as expected). Check to make sure you put in the two "O"s I found out that we had typosquatters a few months back when I typed in the domain wrong inadvertantly.
Whether it's worth our while to go after the various cybersquatters and typosquatters is another story. It's something that's more endemic to the Internet these days and isn't limited to just us.

Well, I saved Terminal's output in a plain text file, and I've checked : I did not misspell trinity.neooffice.org (you can't see but I've pasted this from the file). After my build failed, I checked trinity with host, which returned 207.69.188.186 for trinity.neooffice.org and anoncvs.neooffice.org.
Unless "207.69.188.186" means something in TCP/IP ... |

Wait wait wait ...
apparently 207.69.188.186 corresponds to ns2.mindspring.com ...
well, this is stuff I don't understand. But I have the feeling that Trinity's IP didn't change and that something caused host to report a wrong IP for trinity.neooffice.org.
Edit : I think ns2.mindspring.com is a DNS server, right ? |

Yeah, that should be a DNS server (usually they get symbolica names like ns#, nameserver, primary, etc.). It is possible for the other server to give a wrong IP address if someone's doing DNS poisioning on it. It may have just been some odd downtime or something if it's all better now

Actually, I've found that when I have issues with anoncvs.neooffice.org, disconnecting and reconnecting my internet connection would give me another DNS and often solve the issue. I had just done that after I checked trinity with host for the second time (the first time wouldn't return an IP at all). Maybe I wasn't properly registered with the DNS and it just returned me its own IP ? About two minutes later I would get the right IP for trinity. |
