Hi. I've just tried to create a new database file and when leaving the wizard, I immediately get an error message that says "The connection to the data source could not be established."

I've checked under Tools-->Options and the new file is registered with Base. I've also check the Connections under Tools-->Option and tried both with Connection pooling enabled and not enabled.

I am using NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta Patch 2 on Mac OS X 10.4.7. I had the same problem with Patch 1.

Am I missing something?

Please, check that the use of Java Runtime Environment is checked.
Go to Tools -> Options -> Neooffice-> Java. "Use a Java Runtome environment" has to be checked, and use the more recent JRE (1.5.0_06)

What kind of connection are you trying to use?
Are you trying to connect to an existing spreadsheet or text file or are you using the odbc or jdbc connections to MySql or some other database type?

Switching to the most recent version of the Java runtime fixed the problem.

I am creating a new database and source within Base.

Thanks,
James
